An Innovative & Versatile Solution.

Facing future threats, troops must be fast and mobile over complex terrain, while also integrating capability loads that improve small-unit lethality and enable distributed operations. All over increasing distances and extended time, while avoiding injury and excessive fatigue.

STEED is a commercial solution ready to address this well-documented problem. STEED is low cost, easy to transport, and infinitely versatile across applications and missions. The simple-to-use platform is an essential part of the modern soldier’s everyday kit.

Soldier Lethality
& Survivability

STEED provides troops a platform for carrying payloads that increase the unit’s lethality, effectiveness and ability to protect itself. Example: heavy weapons, mobile ballistic shield protection, UAVs/UGVs, power generating equipment, additional ammunition, personal protective gear, breaching equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBAs), etc.

  • M2A1 .50 Cal Machine Gun + 300 rds = 230 lbs

  • MK47 Auto Grenade Launcher + 96 rds = 210 lbs

  • M252 81mm Medium Mortar + 10 rds = 200 lbs

  • FGM-148 Javelin Anti-Tank Sys + 6 rds = 200 lbs

Casualty
Evacuation

STEED provides the ability to perform rapid, 1:1 ration casualty evacuation. The ability for a single soldier to move a casualty across long distances in less time increases the patient’s chance of survival and allows the remainder of the squad to continue the fight, provide additional security or lifesaving measures on the casualty.

Sensor data from a simulated casualty demonstrated a substantial reduction in acceleration of 17%, allowing for safer transport.

Soldier Load
& Human Performance

STEED delivers a commercial solution to existing capability gaps identified by each of the services. Doctrine has been developed based off government research studies specifically relating to troop overloading and the detrimental effects on human performance and increased injury caused by excessive loads.

STEED provides a 60% reduction in calorie burn, allows the soldier to apply less physical effort and lower exertion while at the same time allowing for a 400% payload increase.

Maneuver
& Mobility

STEED powers through difficult terrain; over rocks, zero turn radius, through wetlands, submerged in water, even climbing stairwells. The versatile load deck and low center of gravity allow for a wide variety of payloads, affording leaders more options in mission planning for decisive action.

STEED offers a commercial solution for troops to reduce mission times while transporting heavy payloads in austere environments by 35-64%, which is essentially three times faster than currently available options.

Dense Urban & CBRNe Environments

STEED is ideal for dismounted troops in dense urban environments including cities, caves and tunnels. STEED’s zero emissions, zero turn radius, ability to be submersed and easily hoisted at obstacles make the platform effective at moving heavy payloads in arenas not accessible to vehicles and fuel-powered equipment.

STEED’s versatile payload deck allows for ballistic shields to be attached to the platform to provide additional protection for the soldier. In CBRNe environments STEED offers the operator a platform that can be decontaminated and used to move heavy equipment, patients, etc. inside the contaminated zone with limited personnel and resources.

Squad Power
& Sustainment

STEED provides small dismounted units expeditionary power exceeding a 72-hour mission. Advances in technology call for a constant source of power and ability for the unit to sustain (water, food, ammo) for a longer duration with no resupply.

STEED can integrate with the squad power manager (SPM-622) to offer the ability to export power and carry heavy power sources, such as generators, to supply the dismounted unit with virtually limitless power supply.
